6.0 READER INSTALLATION:
If you are running Windows 95, or subsequent versions of Windows (R), the CD will autostart, click on INSTALL ADOBE ACROBAT READER and follow the directions. If your CD Drive does not allow autostart then using the right click button on your mouse, click on the start button at the bottom left of your screen. Click on Explore. Find your CD-ROM drive, if the CD is properly inserted the word HERITAGE should appear. Click on the drive once. Open the ADOBE 6.0 folder, then open the WINDOWS folder and double click on the file and follow the on-screen instructions
If you are using a Macintosh, once the CDs autostart menu appears click on VIEW CONTENTS OF THIS CD-ROM, open the ADOBE 6.0 folder, then open the MAC folder and expand the file using StuffIt Expander (TM), a freeware product which is distributed free with Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later (or you can download the expander from http://www.aladdinsys.com/expander/index.html). Double-clicking on the expanded file will launch the Adobe installation.
If you are running some other operating system, go to the Adobe (R) web site [http://www.adobe.com] and download the free reader appropriate for your system.

If the autostart menu doesn't work:
Start the Adobe Acrobat Reader (R), make sure the CD is in the drive and then click on File> Open>, find your CD-ROM drive by clicking on the Look In box and find where it says Heritage. Click on that and select the file "Welcome.pdf" which is in the root directory on the CD.
The Adobe Acrobat Reader (R) provides various means for conveniently navigating through this electronic book, and for doing sophisticated searches for the names of people and places [if an electronic index is included].
When first using the reader we suggest you read the short "How to File" provided on the CD; it explains how to navigate with the reader. The How To file is constructed for Reader version 5.0 or later. You may also find it helpful to simply experiment by clicking on the various buttons on the tool bars at the top and bottom of the screen in order to discover what functions they perform - most are quite intuitive. You cannot hurt the CD by such experimenting.
When all else fails, read the extensive Adobe on-screen help file. If you are using the electronic search feature, it is especially important to read the "How to File," and those portions of the Adobe on-screen help file which pertain to the electronic search feature.
